In Sweden, we use the European Avalanche Danger Scale, developed by the European Avalanche Warning Services (EAWS).

The danger level is determined by evaluating three key factors:

Snowpack stability - How easily can an avalanche be triggered? Stability varies across the terrain and is rarely uniform.
Spatial distribution of instability - How common are the locations where avalanches can be triggered? This describes the frequency of unstable areas within the forecast region.
Avalanche size - How large can avalanches become? When assessing danger, the largest expected avalanches are taken into account, as they determine potential consequences.
